What is Yoga?
With roots in ancient India over 5,000 years ago, yoga is a holistic form of exercise that involves the union of mind, body, and spirit. It encompasses a variety of physical postures, breathing exercises, and meditation designed to promote not only physical health but also mental clarity. There exist many different styles of yoga. For those who desire a more physically intense and dynamic form of exercise, there is Vinyasa and Ashtanga yoga. For those who practice yoga for meditative purposes or to relax, there are the gentler yoga types such as Hatha or Yin yoga. Yoga has global popularity not only as a form of exercise to promote a person’s overall well-being, but also as a therapeutic tool for stress relief and relaxation.
Types of Absolute Yoga Classes in Bangkok
At our Absolute Yoga classes in Bangkok, we have four main categories for practitioners to choose from. Each class focuses on different benefits and are one-hour long, with the exception of our Hot Yoga classes which can range anywhere from 70-90 minutes long.
Stretch
The first category is Stretch yoga. These yoga classes in Bangkok focus on flexibility, balance and joint mobility. Under the Stretch category, we offer Hatha yoga, De-Stress Yoga, Office Syndrome Yoga, and Anti-Aging Yoga. Hatha Yoga is great for first-timers. It is a slow-paced class that explores basic poses, breath work, and alignment to improve flexibility and balance.
Strength
The Strength category of yoga focuses on developing the overall strength of your body, but especially your core, upper body, and legs. Under this category, we offer Vinyasa Yoga, 6-Pack Abs Mat Pilates, and Power Prop Yoga that involves equipment such as a toning ball, foam roller, light weights, and resistance tools like a flex band. Power Prop Yoga is our fast-paced yoga class that pushes yogis to new heights, encouraging them to sculpt their body as they work on flexibility and openness.
Sculpt
Under our Sculpt category, our yoga classes focus on shaping your body, particularly your waistline, rear and legs. These sessions have a foundation in Mat Pilates and use props. The classes we have under this category are Firm Butt Mat Pilates, S-Waistline Mat Pilates, Lean Legs Mat Pilates and Toned Arms Mat Pilates.
Sweat
Our final category, Sweat, focuses on classes that use heat to help burn more calories and increase your metabolism. Our signature Absolute Yoga classes in Bangkok such as Hot Yoga, Detox Yoga, Fat Burning Yoga, and Hot Mat Pilates fall under this category. All of the classes are 60-minutes long with the exception of the Hot Yoga class which is 70-90 minutes long and takes place in a room that is between 38°C to 40°C to encourage perspiration.
How To Prepare for Your Yoga Classes
When attending these yoga classes, we advise you to wear comfortable workout clothes and bring a bottle of water along. It is important to stay hydrated, especially during hour-long sessions. We also have a strict No Phones in Class policy, therefore please leave your phone in your locker or on Silent mode in class if you absolutely have to bring it along. We encourage having no technology in the room during classes so that workouts can be enjoyed without distractions and people stay focused on the exercises at hand.
As a general rule of thumb, we also encourage class-goers to arrive at least 15 minutes before their session begins to sign in and prepare. We begin classes on time and not a second later. If you’re new to Absolute family or are a first-timer, we highly recommend arriving early to get set up and be ready for the exciting new experience ahead.
